As I emerge from a season of sabbatical, a time spent in deep prayer and reflection, I find myself standing at the threshold of a new chapter in ministry. Over the past months, I've sought God's guidance, asking Him to reveal the next steps in my journey. The answer has been clear: God is calling me to step into a role of consulting and encouraging congregations that are stuck, to help them get back into the vital mission of making disciples.
This article marks the beginning of a new focus for this blog—a space where I will share insights, experiences, and encouragement for both congregations and pastors. Whether you are a long-time follower or new to this community, I invite you to journey with me as we explore the challenges and opportunities of ministry in today's ever-changing landscape.
The Changing Landscape of Worship: The world has changed significantly, and so has the way we approach worship and ministry. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated these changes, leaving many churches struggling to adapt. Some congregations find themselves stuck, unsure of how to move forward in making disciples. But the mission hasn't changed. The Great Commission remains our mandate: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19, ESV).
As I have prayed and pondered during my sabbatical, I've come to realize that this is a time for renewal. It's time for churches to reclaim their purpose and for pastors to lead with a fresh vision. The Gospel message is eternally the same, but our methods must evolve to meet the needs of our communities.
A Call to Pastors: To the pastors reading this, I want to encourage you. Leading a church in these times is no small task. You are called to shepherd God's people, to lead them in making disciples, and to navigate the complexities of ministry in a post-pandemic world. I want to be a resource for you, to offer coaching and support as you seek to elevate your church's mission to the next level.
We are in this together. As you seek to lead your congregation, know that God has equipped you for this season. The Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control" (ESV). You have been given the power and love to lead well, and my goal is to walk alongside you in this journey.
Renewing the Mission: For congregations, the call is clear: it’s time to get back in the game. The mission of making disciples cannot be put on hold. Now more than ever, we need churches that are passionate about reaching people with the love of Christ. This doesn't mean going back to the way things were but moving forward with a renewed focus on what truly matters.
In my upcoming posts, I'll be sharing practical strategies for revitalizing your church, from rethinking worship services to engaging with your community in new ways. Together, we'll explore how to create environments where disciples are made and where the Gospel is lived out in powerful ways.
Scriptural Foundation: This new chapter in ministry is rooted in Scripture. As I step into this role, I am reminded of the words of the prophet Isaiah: "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19, ESV). God is indeed doing a new thing, and I believe He is calling us to be a part of it.
We may feel like we are in a wilderness at times, but God is making a way. He is providing rivers in the desert, refreshing us and renewing our mission. As we embrace this new chapter, let's trust that God is guiding us and that He has a plan for His Church.
Conclusion: This blog will be a place of encouragement, insight, and practical advice for pastors and congregations alike. Whether you're looking to reignite the passion in your church or seeking guidance in your pastoral leadership, I hope you'll find the content here both challenging and uplifting.
As I continue to walk this path, my prayer is that we will all be inspired to embrace the new things God is doing, to renew our commitment to the Great Commission, and to see our churches thrive in making disciples for Christ.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let's move forward together, with faith, hope, and a renewed passion for the mission that God has called us to.
